Join Henry Mintzberg, Philip Kotler, Mitch Joel and Dan Pontefract to learn how to accelerate social change!
The will of people is there; an appreciation of what is happening, and how to deal with it, is not. We are inundated with conflicting explanations and contradictory solutions. The world we live in needs a form of radical renewal unprecedented in the human experience. In this unique one-day event Henry Mintzberg presents an integrative framework to suggest a comprehensive way forward.
We are bringing together leaders from public, private and plural (non profit) sectors to help one another think through the adaptive moves which will benefit our organizations, our sectors, and hopefully our society as a whole. This conference will provide you with new perspectives, practical ideas, and a great opportunity to network with others working on social change. This conference is ideal for social business entrepreneurs, not-for-profit leaders, and all managers interested in bringing about social change.
At this event you will:
– Learn from key thinkers and practitioners
– Explore what works and figure out what you can do
– Network with leaders from the social sector, social business and public and private sectors
Continental Breakfast, Coffee Breaks, Lunch and Cocktails included!
This Rebalancing Society event will run parallel to the CoachingOurselves Reflections Conference. Participants will be able to attend either event with their registration.
The day will unfold as follows:
8:30 – 10:00 AM -> Iconic management thinkers Henry Mintzberg and Philip Kotler will share their insights as to what’s happening in the world today and what we might do about it. Henry Mintzberg is Cleghorn Professor of Management Studies at McGill and a renowned thinker on organizations and management. His latest book “Rebalancing Society” calls for unprecented radical societal renewal and suggests a dynamic way forward.
Philip Kotler has long been THE global thinker in the field of marketing. His latest work on Confronting Capitalism focuses on economic justice and the shortcomings of capitalism. Kotler envisions returning to a healthier, more sustainable capitalism where private and public link forces for positive change.
10:15 – 11:50 AM -> Panelist Discussion. Our panelists come from diverse perspectives but are united in their devotion to social change. In typical CoachingOurselves style, you will have an opportunity to work in small groups to craft questions for the panel to further explore, while they simultaneously craft questions for participants to reflect upon in the afternoon sessions!
Our panelists include, among others, Jean-Martin Aussant, Executive Director of the Chantier de l’économie sociale, and Owen Charters, Chair of Imagine Canada, an organization which seeks to ensure that charities play a key role in building and enriching the nation. Our moderator, Pascal Lépine, has grown one of the most successful fundraising and communication agencies for the plural sector in Quebec and beyond.
12:30 – 13:30 -> Changing the world requires getting our message out and changing minds and mindsets, in our organizations, with our stakeholders, and in our communities. In this session Mitch Joel will unravel the complex world of digital marketing, offering his insights and perspectives to help us learn how to use a digital-first approach to accelerate change within our organizations and with our stakeholders. Mitch, will help us understand what it takes to be digital ambassadors for social change.
13:30 – 15:00 -> Now we help you integrate your learnings and insights into action. We will use a powerful Friendly Consulting process created by CoachingOurselves partner Professor Jonathan Gosling. You will receive support and insights from our speakers and your peers that will help you achieve your goals individually and possibly collectively. This session will move your learning and ideas into effective and realistic actions to help you catalyze social change for your social business or through your organization.
15:30 – 17:00 -> Dan Pontefract, author of The Purpose Effect and Chief Transformation office at Telus, closes our day. Dan will introduce us to his work of how to inspire others to find their purpose and harness that collective energy to make broader change happen.
We will have a cocktail reception at the end of the day, where everyone is invited for networking and to continue the discussions!
All attendees will rececive a free copy of Dan Pontefract’s book:
The Purpose Effect: Building Meaning in Yourself, Your Role and Your Organization
